City centre traders expressed their delight that at last someone was listening to their concerns.
The Liberal Democrat councillors in Preston City Council put forward plans to offer two hours of free parking on council owned car parks in the city centre.
Cllr John Potter said, “Because we proposed tackling some of the massive loss making problems, we can invest in re-energising the city centre and bring it back to life.”
“The traders in the city centre have been left out in the cold for too long. Its time the council started actually listening to their concerns”
“Customers tell us they hate parking in Preston because of the high charges”
Nick Hunter (Singh and Sons)
“2 Hours free parking would encourage shoppers to the market”
Vali Bhikha (Bonny Fashion & Fabric)
“Free parking would be a big plus”
Linda (Conway Fruit & Veg)
